Ok, there will be plenty of people who will simply prefer the earlier canvas version but in all honesty, materials have moved on somewhat.
The BW makers have taken the superb original design and basically modernised it up a bit. Some original ideas have been replaced by sensible thinking and alternatives and it has definitely improved this pack.

    The Good.
This ”Cordura” version is much lighter weight, far more water resistant and totally durable. So much so that there is no need for the vinyl base anymore. Excellent and saves weight.
The side pockets are sensibly sized and have space behind them for tools etc, the main compartment is easily accessed via the draw cord and the pocket compartment on the inside definitely benefits from the BW sleeping mat. The buckles have an ingenious facility where any excess strap can be rolled back over the buckle so it’s all tucked away well. Name tape facility and grab handle completes the design.
All in all a very well thought out day pack with good solid build quality and workmanship.

    The Bad
Only criticisms are the shoulder pads could do with being 1” wider and it would have been nice to have an army serial number and maker label inside. The draw cord on that feeds the main compartment I will replace with 7 gauge para cord as I feel this will gather and clos the top better.
Finally, if it was 5 litres bigger it would be the best pack on the market.
Don’t let this deter you though, it’s an excellent pack and will easily carry a weekend trip.
    5* in my opinion.

Sehr gut verarbeiteter Rucksack.

    Good quality
