Bollé - safety and design for the eyes

The history

The "Maison Séraphine Bollé", a company that manufactured combs and hair accessories, was founded in 1888. A new material, celluloid, from which the previous products of the Bollé company were also made, was to have a lasting impact on the company's development.

48 years after the company was founded, Bollé produced the first sunglasses. Its frame was made of celluloid. During the Second World War, the military industry relied on the know-how of this company. After the end of the war, Bollé produced the first glasses from the new material nylon.

In 1993, Bollé designed a classification system that made it possible to divide protective goggles into different protection classes.

Today Bollé produces sunglasses for a wide variety of sports, ski goggles, as well as ski and snowboard helmets.
