The carabiner, officially "Mauser Model 98" was the probably the most important of all German rifles, and has been manufactured since 1898. One of the most famous variants was the 98k developed with a shortened barrel, which was the standard weapon of the German Army over many years. With the breech block system, it was one of the most produced weapons of the world.
