Glow sticks are a light source which operates without electrical power. The luminosity is activated by bending it which mixes the chemicals. The highly visible light illuminates at least 12 hours (at the beginning stronger, then slowly weakening). The uses for glow sticks are virtually unlimited as emergency lighting during a power outage, party light, at open-air concerts, camping, trails marking for night walks etc. The glow sticks even work underwater and can not go out in the pouring rain. In the original packaging, the glow sticks have a shelf life of several years. The ingredients are classified by the authorities (TÜV) to be safe, so they can be disposed of with normal household waste. The light sticks are available in 3 sizes, but the burn time is equal for all sizes. Glow sticks should be available in every household as emergency lighting.
