I\'ve not yet used this knife on a survival trip, but I have tested it on everything I wanted to use it for.

The knife chops like a dream. It\'s hefty enough to give you a solid reason to leave behind your axe/hatchet and still chop and split wood admirably. As far as cutting goes, I was slightly disappointed.

The knife\'s edge is quite wide and, though sharpened, still lacks a keen enough slicing quality for my preference. The blade itself is strong and robust, however, and can withstand a lot of punishment. I was able to split a brick with the back of the knife, using only a few solid strikes. Granted, it is not meant for use like this, but I just wanted to see what that extra weight could manage.

Going back to the edge, I sharpened it myself after submitting it to a few simple cutting tests (paper, cardboard, cloth, plastic, wire) and after having sharpened it myself I was more than pleased. It took me almost a full hour of slow grinding to get the sharpness I like, but it was more than worth it. It just slices straight through all the aforementioned materials, though the wire, of course, still needs a little extra strength to get through.

I\'ll definitely be using this knife for a long time. The cost was quite high, but I felt it was worth it and, after adjusting the cutting capabilities by sharpening, it is promising to be my favorite knife thus far.

NOTE: the chopping capabilities, though very good, are no match for an axe.
