Berghaus - Mochila Crusader MMPS FA cedro

I have been using this bag for a few weeks for various purposes (family hike: I carry for 3 so large volumes), winter bivouac hike, packraft hike. I really like the features of this bag: removable pockets that allow you to organize yourself well (to distribute the load/volume in a packraft or during the bivouac), the pockets can be removed very easily with the zips (which is not the case on other models with clips). The front opening is very practical (it has a large mesh pocket under the flap), the multitude of attachment and carrying options allows a lot of flexibility in the choice of fasteners. The top pocket is divided by 3 zips: large storage capacity/volume, practical too. Robustness seems unapologetic: I reached 34 kilos of load with undeniable comfort but you have to tighten my lumbar sufficiently. I measure 1.73 meters and if I were taller the straps would no longer fit me: size 3 for me is perfect but the adjustment no longer allows me to recall the load (compared to my requirements it is really a minor defect that does not bother me very much but it's good to note it, I have the impression that the back is short maybe for military imperatives/wearing braids etc...). I like its system of straps to easily attach 2 large volumes to the outside of the backpack + possibly 1 under flap pocket: the only complaint at this point is that you cannot carry a load under the bag but to the outside which deflects the heavy loads a bit (that's still a remark, it's not a major disadvantage). There is a specific/retractable helmet pocket, which can be used to leave a windbreaker/tarp etc... To conclude: it certainly weighs its weight but fully loaded/heavy weight/volume it has quite appreciable comfort. For me it's simply a Rolls Royce...

I've had the BW Cyclops backpack for over 10 years now and it's great. This one tops him in many ways, but not everywhere. His absolute strength is clearly the FA. This makes it easier to pack the backpack and simply get the items you need out without rummaging around forever. The wider shoulder straps are great! The small drawback is that almost all equipment is designed for moles, which just don't fit here. So attaching things to the shoulder straps in a tangible way is just tinkering. I had carried the 20kg backpack with me for 4 days now and found it very comfortable. The drinking bladder pocket is also very comfortable. I tied it up by half and then my 2L bladder also fit in. What I find bad for my taste are the side pockets. With Cyclops, they can be opened wide, which I find much more practical. In addition, in my opinion, the attachments to the backpack under the side pockets are not worth the mark in terms of quality. I find the tie-down straps on Cyclops more useful. All in all, a great backpack that I can recommend to anyone who would rather have a robust and durable backpack than a lightweight one. When buying, you should really pay attention to the size. Of course I should take size 4 with a height of 188cm. But I also ordered size 3 as a test. When ASMC releases the images, you can see the difference in sizes.

a timeless classic...

The backpack as such has gone through a lot in the 2 months of endurance testing. Under heavy conditions such as heavy rain, mud, heat and heavy use, I have to say... I'm impressed! I knew the good quality workmanship of Berghaus, but I have to say that the storage options on the model, among other things, are great. If you can't store everything you need for a 2-week stay anywhere, you simply have too much equipment. Conclusion: Expensive but you also get a lot!
