The 38 mm x 50 m duct tape (German Army TL olive) was developed specifically for outdoor use according to the German Army's technical delivery specifications. It is designed for extremely high tensile strength in both the transverse and longitudinal directions, as well as exceptionally good adhesive properties on almost all surfaces. The name "duct tape" is due to its tensile strength: the tape is even designed to tow a tank when twisted.
