Plate carriers

Plate carriers, also known as plate carriers in English, are an extremely important part of military protective equipment. They protect personnel in tough day-to-day duty from direct hits in the lung and heart area.
In their simplest form, plate carriers consist of a plate pocket on the front and back. Military personnel and police or special units can insert ballistic plates into these to prevent projectiles from penetrating and to optimally protect these parts of the body.
However, plate carriers are not only used by professionals: on the playing field, for example, they are also popular with airsoft players. In this case, no ballistic plates are inserted into the plate carriers, but only dummies or foam inserts.
The front and rear plate pockets of the plate carrier are connected by the shoulder straps. In addition, there are either simple straps on both sides for fastening or a so-called cummerbund, which ensures that the plate carrier does not slip. A cummerbund can be integrated into a quick-release system, making it easier for the wearer to remove the plate carrier quickly if necessary.

Where are plate carriers primarily used?

Plate carriers are an important part of the protective equipment used by military and special units. They are used by a wide variety of international troops and soldiers and reliably protect them from the dangers of tough day‑to‑day service. However, plate carriers are not only worn by special forces and Bundeswehr units, etc.: they are also used by all police tactical units and provide optimal protection in challenging situations.

Are all plate carriers modular?
