Be well equipped for outdoor and military gear with tactical vests (chest rigs) from ASMC

Here you can find the right vest for every situation in life. We show what to look out for when choosing and using one.

What should be kept in mind when using it?

Before using vests for the first time, you should make sure that they have been adjusted to the body. With the various straps, the vest can be individually adapted to the wearer’s body shape. Heavy loads can put strain on the back and restrict freedom of movement. It is therefore all the more important that the vest fits snugly against the body. This allows maximum flexibility and freedom of movement. The vests in our range offer space for many items. Before using the vest, you should make sure that all pockets and compartments are securely closed.

Which vest is right for me?

Before choosing a suitable vest, you should first consider in which environment it will be used most of the time. The vests in our range have a very different design. A large proportion of the vests are equipped with camouflage elements, which can differ in their color scheme. In addition to gray and black tones, you can also get variants with white and green color elements or in solid colors. When choosing a suitable model, attention should be paid to the compartments and pockets. While some vests offer relatively little storage space, other models have an extremely large number of pockets. Anyone who wants to carry many items such as pocketknives, bottles and ammunition should opt for more extensively equipped models. When selecting a vest, you should also consider whether the model has shoulder pads or not. For permanent use, shoulder pads are recommended. To determine the correct size, we are happy to refer you to the ASMC size chart.

Expert tip: How to best set up a tactical vest

For the various items that need to be packed, there are usually dedicated loops and holders that prevent the specific item from shifting or falling out. That’s why it’s essential to pack the rig largely as intended by the manufacturer. However, there are usually plenty of “multi-purpose pouches” and holders where you can stow the rest of your equipment as you see fit. With MOLLE systems, it’s of course convenient that you can usually put the vest on first and then load it up. As a basic rule, anything you need to have quickly at hand should not be stored in the backpack but in the rig.

When should you choose a vest, and when is a chest rig the better option?

The distinction is likely to be fluid, but rigs usually have no pouches on the back, which is often the case with vests. In addition, vests can be put on and taken off like a jacket, whereas rigs are seen as a complete solution that you generally slip into. This is also what makes the pouch on the front of the abdomen possible in the first place. Which option you prefer is a matter of personal taste, as there are no really significant differences apart from the following: if you want or need to carry a backpack, you should of course opt for a rig, as there is no back pouch. A small advantage of vests, on the other hand, is the better and more even weight distribution of the equipment on the body.

What types of vests are there?

There are standard vests that basically cover the entire torso, but there are also the so-called cummerbund versions, which are worn more like a wide belt. Then there are versions used by the police, for example, which can be worn over bulletproof vests.

Are there vests with a MOLLE system?

The widely used so-called MOLLE system is also frequently found on vests and refers to an industry standard for modularly attachable pouches and modules. MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment. Introduced as a military system for attaching and carrying gear and other items, it is characterized by standardized webbing straps made of textile fabric that are sewn to the textile base – in this case a vest – with multiple rows of stitching. This makes them very robust and long-lasting.

A collection for professionals and outdoor fans

There is really only one important distinguishing feature: vests do not have sleeves.
