The length-adjustable Footape foot loop, made of abrasion-resistant polyamide webbing, is used in conjunction with the Ascension rope clamps (ASMC items 53127 & 53324) for rope ascents. It is a tremendous help, especially on free-hanging ropes, enabling a fast and, above all, energy-saving ascent.
The foot loop is attached to one of the two Ascension rope clamps. The weight on this loop allows the climber to relieve the second rope clamp, which is connected to the climbing harness, and slide it upwards. The climber then sits down in the harness and slides the rope clamp, connected to the foot loop, a little further upwards. This process is repeated until the summit is reached.
The foot section is reinforced to be abrasion-resistant for easier entry, and the elastic strap ensures the foot stays securely in the foot loop. The foot section is adjustable in size and therefore suitable for all types of shoes.
The DoubleBack buckle allows the height of the foot strap to be adjusted quickly and easily, thus adapting it to the body size.
The Petzl Footape foot loop is also a great help when used in combination with two Prusik loops or when climbing trees.
