Die handbetriebene Luftschutzsirene ist ein energieunabhängiges Alarm- und Signalgerät, das früher bei Fliegeralarm bzw. Feueralarm verwendet wurde. Mit minimalem Kraftaufwand wird eine maximale Lautstärke erreicht. Durch leichtes Drehen der Kurbel wird schon bei geringer Umdrehung einen Heulton erzeugt, der sich mit Erhöhung der Drehzahl steigert. Mit dem Drücken des Hebels (dabei öffnen sich Klappen und führen zusätzliche Luft zu) entwickelt sich ein ohrenbetäubender Ton, der weithin gehört wird.
Als Einsatzgebiete eignen sich öffentliche Einrichtungen wie Schulen, Feuerwehr, THW, Baustellen usw. Auch für Faschingsveranstaltungen, als Gag bei Vereinsfeiern, im Fußballstadion usw. geeignet.
