Stay Warm or Cool in Any Outdoor Situation with Scarves from ASMC

Here you will find the right scarf or neckerchief for the cold season. We show you what to consider when making your selection and where well-known synonyms come from.

What to Consider When Using Scarves?

Before the first use of a scarf, it should be washed in the washing machine or manually. This ensures optimal skin compatibility. The scarf should not be dried in the dryer but in fresh air. Many scarves really need to be hand washed and should not be washed on a gentle cycle. This can be read on the label.
When putting on the scarf, it can be loosely draped around the neck. Tightening the scarf restricts freedom of movement and is not advisable.

Expert Tip: Scarves Can Serve as Emergency Respiratory Filters

Scarves can be repurposed as (limited) emergency respiratory filters if no respiratory mask is available. To do this, simply hold or wrap the scarf over the nose and mouth. In dense smoke conditions, this keeps most of the harmful, larger foreign particles in the air away from the lungs. Of course, this only helps for a short time and within narrow limits, but sometimes it can be a lifesaver.

Questions: Scarves

How do the different types of scarves differ?

In general, scarves differ in their design, length, and material, and thus also in their warmth properties. Our range offers many different types of scarves designed as cotton, wool, or fleece scarves. There are often minor differences between men's and women's scarves, but they are marginal. We also offer some fan scarves that allow for a clear commitment to a club or association or are often used as decoration in cars. Lighter scarf cloths can also be used as headscarves for sun protection.

What color variants are available?

The colors range from simple accents in black, olive, green, and blue to colors with camouflage elements. These can be used for outdoor tours, in the military, or for camping. Our versatile range allows for selection based on personal preferences and inclinations. Depending on the area of use, it is possible to select a scarf or cloth that matches the design of the rest of the clothing optimally.

What is a so-called "Shemagh"?

Actually, Shemags are called "Kufiya" and come from the Arab region, where they are mostly worn wrapped around the head for sun protection - by men only, by the way. The terms Ghutra or Hatta are also used less frequently. Since the former Middle East conflict in Palestine, the headgear also received the nickname "Palestinian scarf." The most famous wearer of such a scarf is probably Yasser Arafat, whose black-and-white Kufiya became a trademark and even a separate expression "Arafat scarf." It was also "borrowed" as sun protection in army circles and is known there as Shemagh. Unfortunately, it is unclear how the term Shemagh came about. Although the fashion accessory, mostly worn as a scarf, has a lot of political and military history behind it, it has also made its way into youth and pop culture with non-political motives.
