So why would someone in this industry have no intention of becoming a world-famous fashion brand? The answer is simple: if you read the same sentence and emphasize the little word “fashion,” the statement from a company that originally and exclusively dedicated itself to military clothing suddenly makes sense. Fashion that remains true to the military style, but with trendy designs and playful use of color. It worked. A gamble that became glorious reality. Over 60 years of Alpha Industries

Looking back to 1957, you come across Dobbs Industries in Knoxville, Tennessee. At that time, Dobbs Industries produced Air Force flight jackets, hoods, caps and Army raincoats. In 1959, Samuel Gelber founded Alpha Industries and worked as a subcontractor for Dobbs. During this period he produced the now world‑famous MA‑1 flight jacket and subsequently became a contract manufacturer for the government. In the same year, Alpha Industries concluded its first contract with the US Department of Defense for the production of the Air Force N‑3B parka. This was the first real test for the newcomers in the clothing industry.

In 1965, Alpha Industries received the order for the newly developed M‑65 field jacket. A high point had been reached, and Alpha received a government contract for this jacket for the next 25 years. To keep the production line between Alpha Industries and the government running, Alpha began a small production of jackets for the commercial market in 1970.

1992: the birth year of the famous “Flying A”! Alpha Industries presented its new trademark, composed of the three horizontal stripes and the Flying A. This label is now known worldwide.

1996: the step into the global market. Alpha Industries entered into a partnership with a wholesaler in Japan.

1998: Alpha Industries created its first collection for the European market. In addition to menswear, a range of women’s and children’s clothing was also launched.

To this day, Alpha Industries remains dedicated to producing military‑inspired clothing. The unique design makes the flight jackets, trousers and more the ideal companions for duty and everyday life.
