How to saw properly – technique & care

Proper sawing saves energy, increases precision, and extends the saw’s lifespan. Using smooth, even strokes that utilize the entire surface of the saw blade allows you to work efficiently while conserving strength. The piece of wood should be securely fixed to prevent slipping. Regularly check if the saw blade is dull – clear signs include the blade sticking, fraying, or requiring more pressure. Dull blades can either be sharpened or replaced.

Different saw blades for wood, metal or flexible applications ensure clean cuts. Make sure that the handle is ergonomic, sits well in the hand even when wearing gloves, and that the lock is stable when unfolded.

Transport & security on outdoor missions

Outdoor saws must be reliably stored and safely transported. Folding saws can be safely stored with the blade inside the handle, bow saws disassembled in the backpack, hand chain saws coiled up, and wire saws folded down small. Always check the locks to ensure the saw doesn’t open unintentionally.
