When traveling, on military missions, on hikes, when camping, or in outdoor settings, practical pillows are important for a good night’s sleep. When not in use, they can be folded up to save space.

Travel pillows, such as so-called neck pillows, are small and light so they can be carried in a bag or backpack. The pillows are available in the classic rectangular or square shape. Alternatively, neck pillows can be used. When you are out and about outdoors, you generally get very little sleep. All the more important that the sleep you do get is as restorative as possible. A pillow is almost indispensable for this. It supports the head and neck and ensures a comfortable sleeping position, even in a tent or in open terrain. In addition, you can also take along a seat cushion to make your breaks more relaxing. For even more comfort on outdoor adventures, hammocks are ideal for relaxing.

How can you make older pillows (and pillowcases) fluffy again? There are various tips circulating on the internet. Some suggest washing the cover, putting tennis balls in with it and then putting it in the dryer. Another option is to remove the filling, provided it’s not bird feathers, and after washing give the cover a good “shake-out”. With down pillows you can supposedly also use the dryer, but only on the cool cycle.

Can you use just any pillow for babies?

No, that should be avoided. There are special pillows, for example from Babydorm, that have a hollow specifically for the infant’s head. This prevents the head from accidentally slipping to the side or the baby adopting a sleeping position that is not on its back. It is often assumed that such positions could promote sudden infant death syndrome.
