Protectors for sports and other tough missions

Protectors shield the knees, elbows, or the entire upper body from abrasions and further injuries such as bone fractures in the event of a fall. They are available in various designs.

Protecting sensitive body parts is essential

Demanding professional missions or sports that can be dangerous without adequate protection require targeted prevention to protect sensitive body parts from injury. Protectors should be worn whenever there is a risk of falls during sports such as cycling or mountain biking (MTB/downhill), inline skating or skating, or during drills, for example in the military or police. At ASMC you’ll find pads for elbows, knees or the entire upper body that are easy to put on. They are fastened with a hook-and-loop strap and are highly adjustable. The protectors are shaped so that they fit closely around the joint and do not hinder sporting activity or training.

Non-restricted weapons that can be purchased without a firearms license include, for example, gas or blank-firing guns. These look deceptively similar to live firearms and fascinate many enthusiasts and collectors. Unlike their real counterparts, gas and blank-firing guns are loaded with blank or irritant cartridges. They can also fire pyrotechnic ammunition and are therefore used in many places around New Year’s Eve.

Air rifles are also among the non-restricted weapons. These so-called air guns contain no propellant charge. Here, the projectile is driven by compressed gas, which means an air rifle is not classified as a firearm but in Germany is considered a non-restricted weapon available to anyone aged 18 or over.

CO2 guns also count as non-restricted weapons. Here, the air is compressed, for example, by spring pressure via a corresponding piston. As soon as the user pulls the trigger, this compressed air is suddenly released and accelerates the projectile.

Protectors provide reliable protection for sensitive parts of the body. They are made of an unbreakable, hard, and durable plastic. The pads come in different sizes. They specifically protect the knees, shins, elbows, or the entire upper body, as they are specially shaped to fit closely to the respective body part. In the event of a fall, the skin cannot be injured and the joints are very effectively protected from damage.

Expert tip: protectors should be bought in a precise, snug fit

The best protection is useless if it slips at the crucial moment or isn’t positioned over the body part that needs protection, such as the knee or elbow. That’s why it’s especially important to ensure an optimal fit with these products.

Questions: protectors

What is meant by protectors?

This refers to padding (e.g. PU foam) or rigid constructions (e.g. hard plastic) that are intended to distribute the impact energy over larger areas of the body in the event of a fall, so that more severe injuries at a single point are avoided. Foams are now so advanced that they only harden upon actual impact and are therefore more comfortable to wear beforehand. In addition, friction energy – for example in a snowboard or motorcycle fall when coming into contact with the slope or road – is kept away from the body by the protector material. This also helps prevent abrasions or burns as well as injuries from sharp objects.

Where are protectors needed or most commonly used?

Protectors are generally regarded as helpful protective aids for sporting activities, but they can be used not only for outdoor or military gear, but also for motorcycling, mountain biking, snowboarding and, of course, inline skating.

What fastening options are there?

Elastic cords are usually used, but sometimes also hook‑and‑loop fasteners. The clear advantage of elastic bands is that, unlike hook‑and‑loop, they can’t accidentally come undone. The downside, however, is that they are harder to adjust to every body type. So if you are a bit on the heavier side, things could get rather tight.

Can protectors be permanently integrated into clothing?

There are solutions for this as well. Often it is simply more practical not to have to laboriously put on all the individual protectors first, but instead just slip into clothing with integrated protection. The downside here can be that the protectors may shift a little.

What should you look for in back protectors?

Thanks to the unique G-LOFT® technology, the sleeping bags retain their insulating performance even in high humidity. They are durable, easy to compress and are used for both military and civilian applications.
