HAiX – Operational Shoes and Boots Made in Germany

Over 50 years ago, shoemaker Xaver Haimerl founded the company Haix. The company name, Haix, is derived from the first three letters of his last name and the first letter of his first name. Hiking and work boots were developed and manufactured in Mainburg, Bavaria. Forty-four years later, master shoemaker Ewald Haimerl, son of the company's founder, took it upon himself to develop completely new and functional firefighting boots.

Beyond the Borders of Germany

As a member of the volunteer fire brigade in Mainburg, he and his comrades knew from personal experience how uncomfortable and impractical rubber boots were during firefighting operations. The new boots were to be made of leather. His plan succeeded. The new firefighting boots received praise and recognition from his comrades and other firefighters. Shortly thereafter, Haix expanded its product range to include shoes for rescue services and police.

Soon, the company Haix became known far beyond the borders of Germany with its innovative shoes. In 2003, Haix North America Inc. was founded. This subsidiary serves the US and Canadian markets. Just six years later, a highly advanced production facility was established in Croatia. In the same year, the new sales subsidiary Haix France was founded.

Today, Haix's product range includes various firefighting boots, police and military boots, boots for rescue services and forestry, operational boots, and boots for hunting. Haix continuously develops and improves its products in close cooperation with individuals from the targeted user groups.

HAIX® Profile

• HAIX® is the world's leading manufacturer of functional shoes for fire brigades, police, emergency forces, and increasingly for forestry and outdoor leisure. Whether in Los Angeles, Moscow, Hong Kong, or Mexico City - wherever firefighters are deployed, where lives are saved, where absolute reliability on footwear is required - high-quality boots from HAIX® have become an indispensable companion.

• Practical research and creative innovations are hallmarks of the shoe specialist founded in 1948 in Mainburg, Bavaria: When company owner Ewald Haimerl promises "developed by firefighters for firefighters," it is not just an empty promise but daily reality at HAIX®.

• With countless new developments and patents, the Bavarian global player sets worldwide standards in functionality, quality, and innovation. Part of the company's strategy is to expand development and production in Europe. The headquarters with administration, research, shoe development, and logistics is located north of Munich.

• In the EU member state Croatia, the establishment of a second production site began in 2005. Where once the major brands of the sports world had their high-tech shoes manufactured, the Bavarian functional shoe specialist found the workforce potential and technical know-how necessary to guarantee further professional growth of its production. In 2009, the foundation for a dedicated plant in Mala Subotica was laid, and at the same time, a training initiative for youth was started. Since August 2009, up to 600 employees have been manufacturing HAIX® functional shoes of the highest quality in one of the most modern shoe production facilities in the world. Completely new production processes, including for in-house sole production, demonstrate the unique high-tech competence of HAIX®.

• In 2003, HAIX® established its own sales office in the USA. From Lexington, Kentucky, the quality functional shoe manufacturer's boots from Bavaria have since conquered the North American and Canadian markets. From Los Angeles to Washington D.C. and from Vancouver to Montreal, emergency forces now rely on HAIX.

• Since 2008, the French HAIX® sales office in Strasbourg has supported the expansion into the European market.

• In 2011, the company founded HAIX Asia Ltd. From Hong Kong, the sales office successfully supports activities in the Asian market. HAIX® employs over 800 people worldwide and manufactured around 650,000 pairs of shoes in 2013.
