Which materials are suitable for long johns and functional shirts?

As a rule, long johns and similar garments made from polyester or virgin sheep’s wool are the better choice. If you want to opt for a blended fabric for your functional underwear, you should make sure that the cotton content is as low as possible. Long underwear that consists largely of cotton fabric cannot provide the same level of breathability as, for example, polyester or virgin wool.

How tight should long underwear fit?

Long johns and functional shirts should ideally fit skin-tight. Only then can long underwear ensure that moisture in the form of sweat is absorbed by the materials and transported away from the body.
