Rothco - U.S. Saw Back Machete

In contrast to the other machete bolo with canvas sheath order number 39752 purchased by me here, I am completely satisfied with this one. About the blade: The delivery sharpness was absolutely not enough for me and sharpening is not exactly easy and requires practice and patience, but once you have it ready, it is an absolutely suitable tool. Although the steel is quite hard, it still remains flexible enough not to break. Thumb-thick branches are absolutely no problem and even branches with the thickness of the forearm can easily be chopped into small pieces. The coating has held fairly well so far, although the blade scrapes along the rivet of the accompanying sheath. I was honestly amazed at the saw teeth on my back. This is the first one I would describe as working on such a blade. Of course, a real saw works much better and requires less effort, but if you don't have a major project ahead of you and nothing else at hand, you can definitely use it to saw up a branch. About the handle: This is made of plastic, thermoplastic should be right and doesn't look cheap or fragile to me. It is not perfectly adapted to the tip of the blade and stands out a bit, it doesn't bother me personally as I wear gloves when working for long periods of time. The handle is quite large and should be uncomfortable for people with smaller hands. However, there is enough material available to make the grip narrower without jeopardizing stability. The rivets are well fitted, do not stick out and therefore do not interfere at all. Unfortunately, the machete comes without a sheath which you have to order, but it still gives 5 stars.

My blade was extremely blunt and had to be sharpened first. But once it's sharp, it stays that way. The steel is flexible but looks very sturdy and you can even chop chips well. The saw also works perfectly.
