High-quality plate carriers from ASMC: plate carriers for the highest demands

Plate carriers – also known as plate carriers in English – are an extremely important part of military protective equipment. They protect personnel in tough day-to-day operations from direct hits in the lung and heart area.
In their simplest form, plate carriers consist of a plate pocket on the front and back. Military personnel and police or special units can insert ballistic plates into these pockets to prevent projectiles from penetrating and to optimally protect these parts of the body.
However, plate carriers are not only used by professionals: on the playing field, for example, they are popular with airsoft players. In this case, no ballistic plates are inserted into the carriers, but only dummies or foam inserts.
The front and rear plate pockets of the plate carrier are connected by shoulder straps. In addition, there are either simple straps on both sides for fastening or a so-called cummerbund, which ensures that the plate carrier does not slip. A cummerbund can be integrated into a quick-release system, making it easier for the wearer to remove the plate carrier quickly if necessary.

Special features of plate carriers

Because plate carriers are fitted with ballistic plates, their construction is heavier than most protective vests. As a result, some users feel somewhat restricted in their freedom of movement. In addition, plate carriers often generate a certain amount of heat underneath, making them feel warmer to the wearer. However, it should be noted that a simple combat shirt can help alleviate this. Furthermore, plate carriers and ballistic plates are considered extremely reliable, so compromises in freedom of movement are gladly accepted.
Compared to protective vests, plate carriers are usually modular or semi-modular. For example, they can be upgraded with as many mag and utility pouches as desired using MOLLE loops, allowing additional equipment to be carried directly on the body and always within easy reach.
However, there are also plate carriers that are primarily suitable for civilian use: the so-called slick plate carriers. In comparison to standard plate carriers, these have no or only a few PALS loops, allowing them to be worn discreetly under jackets.

Are all plate carriers modular?
