Difference between Pouches and Magazine Pouches

Pouches, on the other hand, serve as an extension for additional equipment. They create storage space for non-magazine specific items and can be added as needed. This allows for flexible adjustment of the setup without altering its basic structure.

Pouches in Deployment and Outdoor Use

Pouches are an integral part of military setups and are used to carry equipment directly on the body. At the same time, they have become established in the outdoor, bushcraft, and survival sectors, as they keep equipment accessible and usable independently of a backpack.

Especially during longer deployments or tours, they facilitate organization and reduce unnecessary movements, as frequently needed equipment remains directly accessible.

Typical Pouches in Use

Depending on the task, different pouches are used. IFAK pouches hold medical equipment and are positioned to remain accessible in an emergency. Dump pouches serve as drop pouches and allow equipment or empty magazines to be quickly stowed without interrupting the setup. Multipurpose pouches offer flexible storage space for a variety of contents and can be individually equipped.

Additionally, specialized variants such as water bottle pouches or solutions for delicate equipment like camera lenses are used, especially in outdoor and survival applications.
