The story behind Tasmanian Tiger – quality through experience 

Tasmanian Tiger was launched in 1999 as the tactical product line of Tatonka GmbH (formerly Mountain Sport GmbH). The idea: to develop equipment for the highest demands that meets the needs of both professional users and outdoor enthusiasts alike. 

Since then, the brand has continuously evolved and today offers a broad portfolio of tactical backpacks, vests, carrying systems, and accessories. 

Milestones of the brand: 

• 1980: Founding of Mountain Sport GmbH 

• 1989: Construction of the first production facility in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam 

• 1994: Renaming of Mountain Sport GmbH to TATONKA GmbH 

• 1996: Establishment of a second production site in Ho Chi Minh City 

• 1997: Development of the first products for military applications 

• 1999: Registration of the Tasmanian Tiger brand in Germany and launch of the first tactical products 

• 2011: Certification of the company’s own production facilities according to the SA8000 standard for fair working conditions
