Bollé – safety and design for your eyes

Everyone knows how important it is to protect their eyes. Whether from the sun, from small stones while cycling or doing other sports, from sparks while welding, or from projectiles and casings at the shooting range or on the paintball field.

The history

The “Maison Séraphine Bollé,” a company that produced combs and hair accessories, was founded in 1888. A new material, celluloid, from which the company Bollé also made its existing products, was to have a lasting impact on the company’s development. 

Forty-eight years after the company was founded, Bollé produced its first sunglasses. Their frames were made of celluloid. During World War II, the military industry relied on the company’s expertise. After the war, Bollé produced the first lenses made from the new material nylon.

In 1993, Bollé designed a classification system that made it possible to divide protective eyewear into different protection classes.

Today, Bollé manufactures sunglasses for a wide variety of sports, ski goggles, as well as ski and snowboard helmets.
