What is the right size for hydration systems?

While the smaller reservoirs are sufficient for competitions or short half‑day tours, you should opt for hydration packs with a larger volume for full‑day or multi‑day hikes.
The season should also be taken into account when choosing the right hydration reservoir. Since your required fluid intake is much higher in summer than in winter, a larger reservoir is recommended on warm days.
How do I clean hydration packs and bladders?
