Writing instruments from Fisher – easy to use under the harshest conditions

The US brand manufacturer Fisher, based in the state of Nevada, was founded in the 1950s and offers ballpoint pens that can be used reliably under extreme weather conditions, temperatures and other environmental influences.

In addition to the legendary Space Pen, the astronaut’s ballpoint pen, the company regularly brings out new pens for military use that provide reliable service in all exercises and manoeuvres.

How to use Fisher ballpoint pens in the field

All Fisher pens feature a push-button mechanism, with the integrated gas-pressurized refill ensuring consistent writing performance. According to the manufacturer, the Space Pens can be used upside down just as easily as underwater or in extreme temperature ranges, between minus 45 and plus 120 degrees Celsius.

All pens are equipped with a classic clip that allows them to be attached to trousers, jackets or backpacks. The robust construction ensures that the clip will not break off in the heat of the moment and can always be returned to its original position.

Drying out of the ink is prevented under the conditions mentioned, so the pen writes immediately after being drawn. The refills can be replaced by the user on almost all models without affecting the pen’s push mechanism, so it is advisable to carry one or more spare refills.

- In 1953, Paul Fisher and his company became known throughout the USA thanks to a groundbreaking invention. For the first time, Fisher offered classic ballpoint pens with refillable ink cartridges.

- In 1965, the company patented the anti-gravity pen, which, as the Space Pen, represents Fisher’s most important product and has since been used on all US and European space missions as well as on the Russian MIR.

- For military enthusiasts, Fisher regularly offers special editions of its pens, for example with a real cartridge case as a sleeve to protect the refill from drying out. Pens of this kind come in an elegantly designed case.
