In addition to holsters for tools, lights and knives, their primary purpose is usually to carry a firearm or blank-firing gun. The area of use and the requirements placed on the weapon determine the ideal material and design. Holsters are preferably made from leather, carbon-fiber polymer, Cordura or Kydex. There are holsters available for both right- and left-handers. Due to their different body shape, women have different requirements for holster mounts than men. Proven colors are khaki, olive, black or camouflage patterns. The fascination of shooting sports is enhanced by innovative modular systems on the mounts, which ensure comfort, versatility and safety. Where does the word holster come from?

The word is often used synonymously with “halter” and probably derives from the term “Holfter”. This used to refer to mounts for firearms that were attached to horse saddles.
