The emergency backpack: your survival kit for every crisis and disaster

An emergency backpack, also known as a bug-out bag or escape backpack, is a specially assembled kit that ensures autonomous supply for a certain period of time in the event of emergencies, crises or disasters. It contains essential items that cover survival and basic needs in such situations.

Why is an emergency backpack useful?

In crisis situations, every second often counts. Anyone who already has a packed backpack ready to grab in the event of an earthquake, flood or sudden evacuation order can save valuable time, get to safety immediately and ensure that no important items are forgotten.

Who needs an emergency backpack?

Basically, everyone should have their own emergency backpack – whether single, couple or family. In crisis situations, people can become separated. If everyone has their own backpack, each person remains capable of surviving on their own and is not dependent on someone else’s equipment. Families with children in particular should ensure that each person – tailored to their individual needs – is equipped with their own backpack. This ensures that all important items are always at hand, regardless of whether you stay together or are unexpectedly separated.

Put together your emergency backpack individually or choose one of the three pre-packed escape backpacks from ASMC in sizes Small, Medium and Large, which already contain essential equipment and can be flexibly expanded to suit your needs.

What belongs in an emergency backpack?

Regardless of the size of the backpack and individual needs, certain basic necessities must be covered. A well-equipped emergency backpack ensures that you remain capable of survival in a crisis situation. The most important categories are:

Food: Long-lasting, high-energy foods such as energy bars, dried fruit, nuts, or emergency rations. Instant meals or canned food with a suitable can opener are also useful.

Water: At least 2 liters of water per person per day. In addition, you should carry water purification tablets or a portable water filter so you can obtain clean drinking water in nature or in uncertain situations.

Sleep: A compact sleeping bag, sleeping pad, or emergency blanket provides protected and as comfortable as possible rest – even under extreme conditions.

Warmth: Clothing for protection against the cold, a weatherproof jacket, hat, gloves, and an additional thermal blanket. A fire starter or waterproof matches are also essential to create a source of warmth in any environment.

First-aid kit: A comprehensive set with plasters, bandages, disinfectant, painkillers, and special items such as wound dressings or a rescue blanket should be included in every emergency backpack.
